Trukustabos Kylix

Researchers have discovered a Kylix – a shallow vase used for tasting wine – measuring 110cm in diameter. This brings to light a previously unknown practice: Trukustabos. This game of skill, played at symposia banquets, consisted of throwing skateboard trucks into a basin placed on the ground or on a table.

It’s a variant of the ancient Greek game kottabos, and seems to have been invented for a very simple reason. Kylixes were made of ceramic, so they were easy to break when dropped beside the basin. By using trucks made of metal, there was no problem of breakage from the first throw of the object.
